National Massage Therapy Awareness Week® is an annual event held in October to celebrate the benefits of massage therapy and promote the profession. The week is sponsored by the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), the nation’s largest massage therapy association. The AMTA created National Massage Therapy Awareness Week® to raise awareness of the many benefits of massage therapy and to encourage people to try massage for the first time. The AMTA also uses the week to promote the massage therapy profession and to advocate for massage therapy licensure and regulation.
